MANILA: Honda Motors surely looks determined in their quest to come toe-to-toe with their Japanese rival Toyota, who are the current market leaders in global automobile sales. Their strategy to beat Toyota in their own game looks evident as their newest version of the Honda CR-V was spotted during a road test in Ohio, USA. Most of us might already know that CR-V is one of Honda’s newest entrants in the compact SUV segment, which saw a recent update in 2015. But, there has been quite some time since and competitors such as Toyota, Suzuki, Chevrolet etc. have also launched their newest compact SUV models in the market.
As a result, Honda Philippines also saw a gradual decline in the CR-V's sales in the wake of new models being launched by competitors. People might find this a little weird as it hasn’t even been an year since the compact crossover was updated by the manufacturers and it is already showing signs of age. Well, it might sound surprising but that’s how quickly things move for mass market brands.
Coming to the spied vehicle, although most details were hidden due to the camouflaged exterior the vehicle dimensions showed clear signs of change. The exteriors look buffed up than the previous model, which might mean that there is a new engine under the larger hood. There are speculations about their Earth Dream engine making an appearance, along with some never seen before features such as heads-up display, but nothing is yet official. Some automotive portals have also speculated the possibility of a Hybrid version, which might make the Honda CR-V even more versatile according to the various markets across the globe. The spied vehicle might be revealed by the end of 2016 before its launch next year and will most likely be labeled as the 2018 model.
